November is almost here, and I've been thinking about ways to make the month feel a little more special.
Not necessarily with big plans or expensive outings. I'm thinking more along the lines of a good movie, something warm to drink, a favorite meal, or having a little something to look forward to when the days start feeling the same.
There's something beautiful about this time of year, with all the changing colors and cozy vibes.
I've been dealing with a pretty rough autoimmune flare for a while now, and unfortunately, it's not easing up as quickly as I'd hoped. At this point, I'm realizing it could be another few weeks, or even months, before I get back to my normal baseline.
And while I'm trying to be patient, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. There are things I'd love to be doing, places I'd like to go, and days when I really miss being able to just get up and do whatever sounds fun.
But I also don't want to spend the next few weeks or months feeling like my life is on hold while I wait to get back to my normal.
That's why I'm trying to find more little things to enjoy and look forward to, even when life isn't going quite the way I'd like.
And I know I'm not the only one. Maybe you're dealing with health issues, running low on energy, watching your budget, or just happier staying home. Whatever the reason, there's no reason we can't make November enjoyable in our own way.
So I put together this cozy November list. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive, and nothing that requires a bunch of energy. And if baking from scratch or hosting friends is your idea of fun, go for it! This is about what feels good to you.
I even made a free Cozy November Bingo card and checklist you can print and color in if that sounds fun.
One thing before we get started: These are suggestions, not assignments. Pick what sounds good, skip what doesn't, or come up with your own ideas. Your version of cozy might look completely different from mine, and that's the whole point. No rules, no deadlines, and no pressure to finish everything.
25 Cozy November Ideas to Make Your Own
1. Create your cozy corner
A favorite blanket, pillow, and good lighting can make your usual spot feel special. I also have some ideas for creating a supportive home environment.
2. Have a movie night
Popcorn, pajamas, and an old favorite. No elaborate plans required. If you need ideas, my books made into movies list is a good place to start.
3. Make a warm drink
Coffee, tea, cocoa, or cider in your favorite mug.
4. Read or listen to a book
Audiobooks count, especially when focusing on a page is too much.
5. Enjoy a pajama day
Stay comfortable and enjoy a day without unnecessary plans, if your schedule allows.
6. Make soup
Homemade is nice. A can of soup and grilled cheese is nice, too.
7. Try a fall treat
Apple crisp, pumpkin muffins from a mix, or cinnamon toast.
8. Have breakfast for dinner
Waffles, eggs, or pancakes just because.
9. Make an indoor picnic
A tray of snacks beside the window sounds pretty good to me.
10. Save an old family recipe
Write it down, make it, or share the memory behind it with someone you care about.
11. Watch Thanksgiving TV episodes
Friends, Gilmore Girls, and New Girl have fun ones.
12. Make a November playlist
Include songs you haven't heard in ages.
13. Try a creative project
Color, doodle, make a card, or start something you don't have to finish.
14. Put together a distraction basket
Keep easy, enjoyable activities close by for quiet or low-energy days. I've shared more ideas in my distraction basket post.
15. Look forward to one little thing
A favorite meal or Friday night TV counts.
16. Send a note
Text or mail a little surprise to someone you care about.
17. Have an at-home date
Pajamas and takeout are perfectly acceptable.
18. Look through old photos
The funny, sweet, and imperfect memories matter.
19. Make a Good Things Jar
Save little moments worth remembering, without pretending every day is good. My Good Things Jar article shows how I like to do this.
20. Start a simple tradition
A favorite movie or pie for breakfast. Why not?
21. Watch the season change
Enjoy the view from your window. You don't have to go hiking.
22. Enjoy cozy self-care
Lotion, warm socks, music, or just a little quiet.
23. Learn something for fun
Try a podcast, documentary, or tutorial with no productivity goal.
24. Make your spot more comfortable
A little organizer or lap desk might help if you're resting a lot.
25. Take a day without expectations
Sometimes doing less is exactly what you need. And if you're resting because your body gives you no other choice, that counts, too.
If you're trying to find more enjoyment in ordinary moments, I wrote about that in How to Find Joy in the Little Things When Life Feels Hard.

I created a fun printable to go with this list, with little spaces to color and a center square that says Rest Counts. There's a checklist version, too. Swap out any squares you don't like, add your own activities, or just color it for fun. Make it yours!

A Few Cozy Favorites, If You're Looking
You don't need to buy anything to enjoy November. Chances are, you've already got plenty around the house. But if you're looking for something to make your cozy days a little more comfortable or fun, I've collected some recommendations you can browse.
For blankets, comfortable-at-home essentials, and things to keep you entertained, take a peek at my Amazon storefront (affiliate link). For mugs, coloring books, and other ideas for a slower day, you can also browse my Cozy Essentials for a Slow Morning list.
And if you'd rather try something from GLV, my Sleep Journal could be nice for a slower evening, while the Daily Focus Planner can help you jot down the few things you actually want to do, without turning your whole day into a project.
None of these are must-haves. Just a few places to look if something catches your eye.
Your November doesn't have to look like anyone else's
We see so many beautiful fall bucket lists online. I think they're fun, but sometimes they assume everyone has the time, energy, money, or ability to get out and do all the things.
I know what it's like to want to do more than your body will allow. And I don't think we need to pretend that being stuck at home is always our first choice to find some enjoyment in it.
We can miss the things we used to do and still find little moments worth looking forward to. That's part of building a good life, even on the hard days.
So here's to a November that feels good to you. And if all you manage is a favorite movie, a warm blanket, and some rest, that counts, too.
What is one cozy thing you're looking forward to in November?
In this together,
Laura
