Hypermobility Humor: A Funny Poem for Bendy People
Share
If you're like me, you've probably had some, shall we say, interesting experiences with your extra-flexible joints. From accidental party tricks to the occasional (or frequent!) unexplained ache, life with hypermobility is definitely… unique, don't you agree?
So, I decided to channel some of those unique experiences into a little poem. It's a lighthearted look at the joys (and, let's be honest, the occasional frustrations) of being part of the hypermobile club. I hope it brings a smile to your face and reminds you that you're not alone in your bendy adventures!
The Double Jointed Dance
Oh, bendy friends, with joints so free, A double-jointed jubilee! We touch our toes, behind our head, While others stare, confused and dread.
Our thumbs, they curve, a backward grace, A party trick, in any place. We’re human pretzels, it is true, With extra moves, for me and you.
Our knees, they pop, a crunchy sound, Like breakfast cereal, all around. Our shoulders slip, with casual ease, "Just putting them back," if you please!
We’re experts at the awkward sprawl, And random aches, that make us crawl. But though we bend in ways so strange, We wouldn't ever want to change.
Can you relate? What are some of your funniest or most relatable hypermobility moments? Share them in the comments below! Let's celebrate our wobbly bits together.
And remember, even though our joints might be a little… enthusiastic, we're all pretty amazing. Stay strong, stay flexible, and keep on bending!
In this together,
Laura
