20 Little Things That Make Everyday Life Easier
Share
Simple ideas that save time, energy, and sometimes even money.
Life has taught me that making things easier isn't about being lazy.
It's about protecting your time, your energy, and your peace.
Some of these ideas cost a few dollars. Some don't cost anything at all. But every one of them has made my everyday life just a little easier.
Maybe one of them will help you too.

1. Keep scissors where you actually use them.
Instead of one pair for the whole house, keep inexpensive scissors in the kitchen, office, junk drawer, or wherever you use them most. It's amazing how much frustration this saves when you don't have to go looking for them.
2. Buy a few extra phone chargers.
Keep a few extra phone charging cables around. Place one by your bed, your favorite chair, your desk, and in the car. When charging is convenient, your phone is almost always ready when you need it.
3. Try grocery pickup.
It's not just about saving time. It's about saving energy, avoiding impulse purchases, and making shopping a little less overwhelming on busy weeks. Here's one worth checking out. They even offer delivery on if you need that option.
4. Keep a donation box somewhere out of the way.
Whenever you find something you no longer use, toss it in the box. When it's full, donate it. No huge decluttering project required.
5. Buy frozen chopped vegetables.
They last longer, reduce food waste, and make it much easier to cook dinner on days when your energy is running low. I often put mine on a tray in my air fryer and let it do the cooking for me.
6. Use clear storage bins.
If you can see what's inside, you're less likely to buy duplicates or forget what you already have. These ones are a great set that can be used anywhere in the home.
7. Let a robot vacuum help.
Will it deep clean your house? Probably not.
Will it keep pet hair and everyday dust under control while you do something else? Absolutely. Here's one that I like.
It's a combo so it can help mop and vacuum which is a win in my book on a day you're not up to doing it yourself.
8. Keep water where you spend your time.
I keep a filled water bottle beside my recliner, next to my bed, and an empty one in the car for on the go that I can refill when we stop. The easier it is to grab, the more likely I am to stay hydrated.
9. Keep a grabber tool handy.
Whether it's picking something up off the floor or reaching the top shelf, this grabber is one of those tools you don't realize you need until you have one.
10. Create a comfort basket.
Fill a basket with the things you reach for most often like lip balm, lotion, a charger, notebook, tissues, glasses, or snacks and set it close to where you sit. It saves countless trips across the room. Some folks like a rolling cart instead that they can move from room to room. Anything works as long as you use it.
11. Buy the pre-cut fruit.
Yes, it costs a little more.
But if it means you'll actually eat it instead of throwing it away a week later, it's worth it. Just like with the veggies, you can buy it frozen or canned too.
12. Keep a few easy meals in the freezer.
Frozen soup, meatballs, casseroles, or ravioli can save you from ordering takeout when you don't feel like cooking. There is always a pot pie or two in the freezer just for these occasions in our home.
13. Don't feel guilty about convenience.
Paper plates.
Grocery pickup.
Pre-cut vegetables.
Robot vacuums.
If something makes your life easier and fits your budget, you don't need anyone's permission to use it.
14. Keep your grocery list on your phone.
The second you use the last of something, add it to your list. Future you will thank you. You can even do this in some stores apps.
15. Invest in comfortable shoes.
I've learned that when your feet hurt, everything hurts. A supportive pair of shoes is one purchase I rarely regret. If I can find a pair that I really like and they are on sale and its a really good deal, I'll snag two pairs at the same time especially if I can stack and save with free shipping, my rebate apps and more.
16. Keep a heated blanket nearby.
If you've followed me for a while, you probably knew this one was coming. It's one of my favorite ways to relax and recharge, especially on cold or high-pain days. I didn't think that this would actually become one of my favorite investments but it is. I tell everyone I know, to have a heated blanket. They really do come in handy!
17. Double recipes when you cook.
If you're already making chili, soup, or spaghetti sauce, make extra and freeze half. You'll appreciate it on a busy night. These freezer cubes are perfect for freezing items.
18. Replace things before you run out.
Toilet paper.
Laundry soap.
Pet food.
Buying replacements during a regular shopping trip is much easier than making an emergency run later. Once again, if I can grab them when they are on sale, using my rebate apps, etc. that helps me stock and save even more.
19. Use cashback apps.
If you're already shopping, you might as well earn a little money back. Even small amounts add up over time. Here's some of my favorites as well as some other money savings tips and what "stacking and saving" means in this blog post.
20. Remember that "done" is better than perfect.
Some days dinner is homemade.
Some days it's frozen ravioli.
Some days the laundry gets folded.
Some days it stays in the basket.
That's okay.
Life isn't about doing everything perfectly.
It's about finding little ways to make today a little easier.
Final Thoughts
If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's this:
Making life easier doesn't make you lazy.
It makes you resourceful.
If something saves you time, protects your energy, reduces stress, or gives you more time with the people you love, it's worth considering.
I'd love to hear from you...
What's one little thing you've started doing that makes everyday life easier?
In this together,
Laura
